There are some very interesting and exciting new prints being made by Scott Parker. By branching into multiple colors and prints of up to 5 reductions or even more, Parker has continued to display his technical prowess within the medium; To impart a feeling of depth, texture and life into a 2 dimensional creation with simple cutting tools is the mark of a great block print maker. Parker's print work has impressed collectors and curators since the first block prints he made on a small press in Chicago years ago. Yet these latest works reveal that the artist is truly coming into his own. Looking critically at Parker's work, reveals the ease with which he captures a scene on the print surface that is at once tactile and enthralling. This print is the winner of the "Award of Excellence" at the 60th Annual Twilight Park Art Exhibition, August 11-12th in Haines Falls NY.
The judges of the Exhibition were Anne Coffin, Founder and Director of the International Print Center New York and Michele Levy, Program Director of the International Print Center New York. In giving Scott Parker the Award of Excellence, they said: "Scott Parker of New York City, NY for his lino print “Northwoods”. Excellent use of positive and negative space successful use of black and white mark making, masterful use of the medium."
