On the notrthwest corner of the Yucatan peninsula you'll find a quiet little fishing vllage called Celestun. You should read more about it. Driving northeast up and around the "corner" of the Yucatan, you'll see traditional Mayan homes along the coast. On the north coast of the peninsula you'll arrive in Chelem.
