Chico California, Lassen Volcanic National Park was created in 1916 because
of it's importance as an active volcanic landscape. It is part of a vast
geographic unit that also encompasses Lava Beds National Monument, California,
and Crater Lake National Park, Oregon. Parker visited the park last November
before the roads closed down for the winter and captured views of an uncrowded
and unique National Park.

California. Show

Mount Lassen is consindered the world's largest plug dome volcano, rising
2000 feet above the surrounding terrain. It blew it's top in 1915, and
is the second most recent large eruption in the US after
Mt. St. Helens in 1980. It's the southernmost volcano in the Cascade range
which runs north from here to Canada. Parker did a great pencil drawing
of this grand peak.
